It’s time to do some myth busting, life insurance style!
Life insurance is one of those things you know you need, but probably haven’t thought too much about. We know it’s not the most exciting topic in the world, but we wanted to take the time to bust these life insurance myths so you can get the right coverage.
• Your Workplace Coverage Works. While the policy offered by your employer does offer your family some protection, you need a policy that will offer your loved ones at least five (and some experts say up to twelve) times your annual salary. If your workplace policy can’t offer that, you need other coverage.
• You Only Need It If You Earn A Salary. You might think that a stay-at-home parent doesn’t need life insurance. Think again. Tally up the cost of a chef, nanny, maid, chauffeur, accountant, etc., and you will quickly find there is a monetary value attached to the services you offer even if you do not earn a paycheck. Life insurance would help your family cover those expenses if they had to survive without you.
• You Can’t Afford It. All too many people think life insurance is expensive. In fact, when surveyed, 80 percent of people overestimate the cost significantly! Don’t assume you cannot afford life insurance until you get a quote.
